Meet Your Dream Car Online

Hyundai DealerThe Internet has changed the way that we buy things in many ways. It makes like more convenient and gives us exposure to products we otherwise may never have heard of. Technology puts the solutions to our needs at our fingertips, and makes common tasks that are sometimes a hassle much easier to accomplish.

One area technology has affected greatly is the area of dating. Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock for the last several years, you’ve most certainly heard of online dating sites. These sites match people based on common interests and compatible personality traits.

Now, the same technology that matches people with similar interests in hopes of making a love connection is being used to match women with their perfect car. CarTango, a website launched in 2008, claims to be able to match a woman with the car that most fits her lifestyle, taste and desire.

According to CarTango, at their website “your car soulmate is just a few clicks away” and their site is where “Girl meets car.” Images at the site show the outline of a woman meeting her perfect car, much like other sites show a woman and a man.

How exactly does this process work? CarTango relies on a four-step process to match woman and car. First, CarTango uses a series of questions to understand the woman’s personality, needs and style. CarTango may match a woman with a particular Hyundai, for example. From there, CarTango searches through Hyundai Dealer inventory listings. They then communicate with those car dealers about the vehicles they’ve got for sale. Finally, they invite dealerships to compete for the woman’s business. Up to three car dealers can compete for each woman’s purchase.

Some women like CarTango because it removes some of the barriers women have typically faced when it comes to car buying. Some of the most frutsrating processes are eliminated. For example, many women dislike the process of price negotiation. CarTango takes this process and turns it around. Dealers now have to compete for the woman’s purchase, and that competition helps to force prices down. The woman, then, doesn’t have to worry about trying to negotiate. In addition, CarTago provides technical information about vehicles in a readable and clear manner, helping those who aren’t familiar with automotive terms to better understand what they’ll be getting in a car.

However, not everyone is a fan of CarTango. Critics claim that CarTango plays on the fears of women, and that it actually perpetuates the kind of behavior that it claims to be avoiding. In addition, it makes all sorts of assumptions about what women do or don’t know about cars, or what they are or aren’t looking for based on a very few relatively superficial questions.

If you’ve checked out a Hyundai car on CarTango but would like to see it in person, come by our local Hyundai Dealer and take a look or a test drive today.

New European Rules Address Noise, Environmental Specifications

Hyundai DealerFor most people, when you think about the various problems caused by automobiles, you don’t usually think about the noise made by tires. However, there is legislation in Europe now that, if passed, would regulate how much noise a tire could make when going down the road.

Now, there is evidence to suggest that noisy tires may be more than just a minor nuisance. One report says that there is a health risk to noisy tires. It suggests that noise coming from rail and road transport contributes to 50,000 heart attacks a year, and adds to 200,000 cases of cardiovascular disease, in Europe alone. The report doesn’t distinguish between rail and road causes, however, and some experts have called the report into question.

In addition to tire noise, the legislation will require a variety of other safety and environmental specifications be met by tire manufacturers. For example, the legislation would require that, by 2012, all tires for passenger cars would have systems to monitor their tire pressure. In addition, tires would be required to have lower rolling resistance and an increased amount of wet grip.

There are other proposed regulations that have nothing to do with tires, too. The legislation requires that all new cars have electronic stability control systems by 2012. Heavy-duty vehicles would have to have advanced emergency brake systems and lane-departure warning systems, both of which are still in the early stages of development and fairly untested, by 2013. Electronic stability control is already set to be mandatory in the United States in 2012, and it is expected that Canada and Australia will follow suit soon.

How CVT Transmissions Work

Hyundai DealerOne of the ways automobile manufacturers are using to help increase fuel economy is to utilize CVT technology. CVT is short for continuous variable transmission. While each manufacturer may have their own take on the CVT, the way the CVT works is essentially the same.

More and more manufacturers will look to CVT technology as a solution the high price of gas. While the CVT transmission doesn’t solve the problem of gas consumption completely, it is one step along the way to finding a good solution. When used along with hybrid technology, CVT can make a significant difference in fuel efficiency.

The concept of the CVT transmission is this: the CVT changes the diameter of the two primary pulleys that are used in the transmission system on an ongoing basis, allowing the engine to run in a more efficient manner.

A CVT transmission has pulleys. Those pulleys have grooves shaped like a “V.” A connecting belt sits in these grooves. A hydraulic cylinder can move one side of the pulley, while the other side is fixed. When the CVT actuates, the cylinder is reduces or increases the space between each side of the pulley. Thus, the belt can ride low or high on the pulley walls, which in turn changes the ration of the gears. It does this with a near-infinite variety of ratios, and doesn’t therefore have any steps in between the ratios. A traditional transmission will have four or five steps, depending on how many gears it has. The lack of steps allows the engine to stay optimized, in terms of power. This makes the engine much more efficient.

If you’re interested in CVT transmission technology come on in to our Hyundai dealer today. Learn about how Hyundai is using CVT in its next generation of fuel-efficient automobiles, and how a CVT-equipped vehicle can meet your needs.

Continuously Variable Transmissions Offer Better Mileage

Hyundai DealerThe Continuously Variable Transmission, or CVT, is an old technology that has only recently come into popular use in the United States automotive industry. CVT has been used for running lathes, running light duty drill presses and other industrial applications for decades. CVT technology has been popular in other countries around the world for some time now, and more and more manufacturers in the United States are now getting on the CVT bandwagon.

There are several reasons for the rise in popularity of CVT in recent years. First off, there have been advancements in technology that make CVT easier and less costly to manufacture. For example, microprocessors have been a tremendous boon to CVT technology. In addition, high-density rubber belts have contributed to this growth, as well. CVT is appealing to consumers because a vehicle with a CVT will be more fuel efficient than the same vehicle without CVT.

A CVT is much simpler than a traditional transmission. In fact, there are only a few components to a CVT, as opposed to many more with a traditional transmission. A CVT includes a driving pulley that’s operated hydraulically, a driving pulley that is mechanical that senses torque, sensors and microprocessors, and a high power, high density rubber belt.

CVT is becoming more and more compatible with powerful engines, as well. Increasingly, CVT transmissions are being used with engines larger than 1.2 litres, and even being used with some V6 engines.

To find out how Hyundai is using CVT transmissions in its upcoming vehicles, stop by our Hyundai dealer today. We are the Hyundai dealer your serves the Lehigh Valley which consists of Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton, PA near Philadelphia, and we’re ready to make sure you get the best vehicle for your specific needs.

Electronic Stability Control Makes Hyundai Cars Safer

Hyundai DealerThe automotive industry produces a stunning number of technological advances with each passing year. Every time a new vehicle arrives on the lot here at your Lehigh valley Hyundai dealer, there’s something new and exciting to look at. In addition to energy saving advances like the hybrid car and fuel cell technology, the industry is also making advances in areas like safety. One of the most amazing new technologies to appear out of the automotive industry in the last several years has been ESC.

ESC, which is short for Electronic Stability Control, is a technology that recognized when a loss of steering control occurs. ESC tries to compensate for the loss of control through the application of brakes. By applying individual brakes, ESC helps steer you in the direction you intend.

There are several key sensors involved in ESC technology. Some of the most important ones are:
A sensor that determines where you are trying to steer, known as the steering wheel angle sensor.

A sensor that determines the rate of rotation the car is making, known as the yaw rate sensor

A sensor that determines the lateral rate of the vehicle, called the lateral acceleration sensor

A sensor that measures wheel speed, called the wheel speed sensor.

ESC uses these sensors to determine how the driver intends to steer the vehicle and to determine how the vehicle is actually moving. ESC then compares those two factors and applies pressure to specific brakes to try to bring the actual movement path in line with the path the driver intends.

Of course, ESC can’t push a car past its own natural physical limits, or magically increase a car’s traction. It won’t keep accidents from happening. However, ESC does help the driver maintain control utilizing the car’s abilities and traction.

At your local Lehigh Valley Hyundai Dealer, we can tell you all about Hyundai’s ESC technology, as well as Hyundai’s Electronic Stability Program and Vehicle Stability Assist technology.

Biodiesel Offers Alternatives

Hyundai DealerOne of the ways that auto manufacturers and fuel suppliers are trying to cope with the rising price of oil and the negative impact that automobile emissions have had on the environment is through the use of Biodiesel. Biodiesel represents one of the cleanest options when it comes to alternative fuels. Among alternative fuel options that are available on the market today, Biodiesel is the only one that meets the health effects test requirements put forth in the Clean Air Act of 1990. It is registered with the EPA as a legal motor fuel.

Biodiesel is made from renewable resources such as soybeans. Biodiesel is free of sulfur, odorless, nontoxic, biodegradable and easy to use. There is no petroleum in Biodiesel. Biodiesel can be mixed with regular diesel fuel that is made from petroleum to make a biodiesel blend. You can use biodiesel in most diesel engines without having to make many, if any, modifications to the diesel engine..

At the heart of the biodiesel manufacturing process is transesterification. Transesterification is a process that separates glycerin from vegetable oil or fat. When the glycerin is removed, it can be used in other applications, such as soap making. The other element left is methyl esters. Methyl esters is the chemical title for biodiesel.

There are several reasons supporters of biodiesel give as to why it is one of the best options available among alternative fuels. First of all, it is made from renewable resources rather than fossil fuels. Petroleum based fuels aren’t renewable. Use of biodiesel helps to decrease dependence on foreign sources of energy. . Biodiesel is also nontoxic, and it biodegrades quickly.

As biodiesel becomes more and more popular, you will see public fuel stations that feature biodiesel. Biodiesel is not yet widely available in the United States. Today, you can get biodiesel from producers and marketers. You can often get biodiesel from distributors of petroleum, as well.

To find out what Hyundai is doing today to help you get the most out of your fuel while leaving as small an impact on the environment as you can, come by our Lehigh Valley Hyundai dealer today and see what we have to offer. Saving at the Pump

Hyundai DealerSometimes, the best way to do something is the most obvious. This is true when it comes to using less gas and saving money at the pump. Yes, buying a smaller car or buying a hybrid car will help you get better mileage, but there are things you can do even if you drive a large SUV to reduce the amount of gas that you’re using.

One of the best ways to use less gas is to not drive as fast. When you drive quickly, you create more drag on the vehicle. This drag, in turn, causes your vehicle to have to produce more energy (and use more gas) to keep going. The amount of drag you create increases exponentially, the faster you go. You create twice as much drag at 70 mph as you do at 50.

Another way to use less gas is to drive at a consistent speed. This helps keep your energy use low. Most of the time, a car won’t use much of its potential energy. A car going 60 mph on the highway uses only around 20 horsepower, a fraction of its maximum horsepower. The rest of that horsepower is used for acceleration. By maintaining consistent speed, you use less power and less energy. . This is why you use so much less gas when driving on the highway than you do when you’re driving through town.

A final way to use less gas is to stop slowly when you can. By stopping slowly, you utilized energy that otherwise would be wasted. In addition, you add wear and tear on your breaks.

If these tips aren’t saving you enough at the pump, consider visiting us at your local Hyundai Dealer, right here in the Lehigh Valley. We are the Hyundai dealer serving all of the Lehigh Valley, including Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton, PA.

Hybrid Fans Will Soon Have New Choices

Hyundai Dealer

Move over Toyota, Hyundai is getting into the green act.

Environmentally conscious consumers have been waiting years to have some real options when it comes to vehicles that are better on the environment. With rising gas prices, even consumers who aren’t worried about the environment have been looking into more fuel efficient vehicles, hoping to save a few dollars at the pump.

Hyundai Motors has heard the call, and is ramping up efforts to meet these consumer demands.

From 2009 forward, Hyundai is developing and mass producing Hybrid Electric vehicles. This marks the first time that the Korean automaker has moved to mass produce hybrid vehicles, but it isn’t the first time they’ve made them at all. In fact, Hyundai has provided more than 2,800 hybrid cars to the Korean government.

The first mass produced hybrid car from Hyundai will be the Avante (Elantra). It will feature a technology known as LPG, or Liquefied Petroleum Gas. The cars will run on both gas and electricity. LPG produces less pollution than traditional fuel cars, reducing the vehicle’s carbon footprint. The electric hybrid component increases fuel economy, which is also a boon for the environment. Hyundai Dealers expect the Avante hybrid to compete strongly with other hybrid models.

Hyundai isn’t stopping with the mass production of hybrid cars, however. Perhaps the most exciting news is that, beginning in 2010, Hyundai is going to produce a small fleet of vehicles based on fuel cell technology. These vehicles, also known as FCEV or Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles, will be mass produced beginning in 2012. In just a few short years, consumers will have brand new options when it comes to environmentally-friendly transportation, thanks to Hyundai.

If you want to know more about how Hyundai can help you get better gas mileage and protect the environment today, stop in to your Lehigh Valley Hyundai Dealer today.

New Cars Rise to the Top of Fuel Efficiency

Hyundai DealerNow more than ever, people are looking for cars that are tops when it comes to fuel efficiency. With gas prices rising almost daily, people are paying more and more attention to how many miles per gallon they can expect from their new car.

Traditionally, consumers have looked toward Honda and Toyota for the most fuel efficient cars on the market. This is true not only in the area of smaller economy cars, but in the area of mid-sized sedans, as well.

For years, the Honda Accord and the Toyota Camry have held top honors among mid-size sedans, when it comes to gas mileage. New models from Hyundai and Chevrolet, however, threaten the Honda/Toyota lead.

The 2009 Hyundai Sonata and the 2008 Chevrolet Malibu both check in at an amazing 22 mpg in the city, and 32 mpg for highway driving. In contrast, the Honda Accord and the Toyota Camry fall slightly behind at 21 mpg for city driving and 31 mpg for highway driving.

At the low end of the spectrum is the Ford Fusion. The Ford Fusion gets 20 mpg when driving in the city, and only 28 when driving on the highway.

These changing numbers when it comes to fuel efficiency are not going unnoticed. Sonatas are flying out of Hyundai Dealers, and General Motors is having some difficulty keeping up with the demand for the Malibu.

Hyundai is also gaining ground when it comes to overall fleet efficiency. While Honda has the most efficient vehicles with an average of 22.9 mpg, Hyundai is right behind it at 22.7 average mpg.
