Four Tips for Choosing an Auto Insurance Company

new carsYour VW cars are likely one of your most prized possessions. For many owners, their VW cars are the second biggest investment they will eve make besides their house. As such, you want to be certain that you choose the ideal auto insurance company for your needs. Here are four tips to help you choose the best company for your car insurance.

1. Make a list of auto companies you are considering. Take into consideration various factors like the number of years in the business, name recognition, etc.
2. Research each company on your list and make notes. Most companies will have a form you can fill out on their website which will give you an estimated premium for your auto insurance. Compare the prices and coverage that different companies offer to narrow your list down.
3. Check them out at the Better Business Bureau. At BBB.org, you can see how many complaints have been filed against several companies. This will help you eliminate some companies from the list if they have a disproportionate number of complaints.
4. Visit the offices. You will get a better feel for each auto insurance company when you visit them in person or at least call them on the phone. Do they seem like they would be pleasant to deal with? Are some more professional than others? Consider these and other questions when you talk to various agents.

Top Ten Things People Neglect on Their Vehicles

pontiac carsAre you one of the people that neglect maintenance procedures on your Pontiac cars? If so, you could be causing more problems than you know. In this blog post, we’re going to review one mechanic’s list of the ten things most drivers neglect about their cars.

• More than 21 percent of drivers surveyed neglected getting their oil changed on a regular basis.
• Nineteen percent of drivers tend to neglect the cooling system as well as the belts and hoses.
• Mechanics noticed about 12 percent of drivers neglect transmission maintenance while more than 10 percent do not get the regularly scheduled maintenance for their vehicles.

Some other areas that drivers tend to neglect until it’s too late include the tires, tune-ups, brakes, timing belts and the actual body of the car.

“What this survey shows is that the least expensive and least time-consuming routine maintenance is being overlooked by today’s car owners,” said Ronald Weiner, the president of ASE.

Don’t let this be you. Do the regularly scheduled maintenance procedures on your Pontiac cars and fix any problems before they become costly. If you do these things, you’ll get many, many years of use out of your Pontiac cars.

Don’t Steal Gas in Your Pontiac Cars

new jersey dealersPeople are doing some bad things in recent months simply because they are at the end of their rope. This man in central Pennsylvania visited one of his local gas stations and stole gas six separate times for a total of $214.

Jerome Banks, 42, begged the PA judge to send him to jail for his theft. However, Judge Hiram Carpenter had little sympathy for the man and his plea. Banks told the court that he should start receiving disability payments next year and he would then pay back the money for the gas that he stole, but the judge was not having any of that.

Judge Carpenter refused to accept the guilty plea which would have sent Banks to jail. Instead, he told Banks that he would need to find a way to pay off the debt. After all, sending him to jail would not reimburse the gas station owners for the money he stole and he would have to pay it off after getting out of jail anyways. He gave Banks until May 4 to pay the $214 and he will dismiss the charges if he does so.

Some people may think they can fill up your Pontiac cars at the gas station and take off without paying. But in the age of cameras and other technology that we have, you will get caught. Besides, with the new efficiency standards, your Pontiac cars are more efficient than ever so you should not feel the need to steal any gas at all!

Last-Minute Tax Tips for Your Pontiac Cars

pontiac carsIf you are self-employed or have a small business and you use your Pontiac cars for business purposes, there are several tax deductions you may be missing. Here are some last-minute tax tips you can use for your Pontiac cars if you are still filling out your taxes.

• Between January and June of 2008, your standard mileage allowance is 50.5 cents per mile driver for business purposes. For the months of July to December of 2008, the allowance increased to 58.5 cents per mile because of the higher gas prices. Both allowances are better than the one in 2007, which was only 48.5 cents per mile.
• You can either deduct the mileage on your Pontiac cars for small business or deduct the actual expenses. However, you must use the same method each year. You cannot switch from the mileage method one year and switch to the actual expense method the next year or vice versa.
• The actual expense method allows you to deduct the amount of depreciation, oil, maintenance, insurance, gas, parking fees, tolls, towing fees, license fees and much more. If you are self-employed, you may also be able to deduct the interest on your car loan if you use your Pontiac cars for your business.

These are just a few things to keep in mind and ask your accountant about. These days, every little deduction helps!

TN Highway to Link to Planned VW Cars Plant

volkswagenA plan to build a highway connecting I-75 with the planned VW cars factory Chattanooga, Tennessee is progressing. Officials announced this week that the construction of this roadway could begin as soon as next month.

When it is built, the road is going to be the “first 1.5 mile, $9.5 million leg of the project that will stretch through Enterprise South industrial park,” according to an article in the Chattanooga Times Free Press. That means easier access for workers at the VW cars plant and less commuting time as well.

According to Dennis Malone, the assistant city engineer, the parkway is going to connect to an intersection right outside the VW cars plant. There will then be another boulevard connecting that road to the cul de sac in which the VW plant is located. If everything goes according to schedule, the road should open in May of next year. About $18 million is coming from the federal government to complete the project.

The VW cars plant will start production in the early months of 2011. It will employ about 2,000 workers in the Chattanooga and surrounding areas who are going to be manufacturing the new midsize sedan from the German automaker.

How to Drive a Manual Transmission Pontiac Car

new carsRemember back in the day when cars had manual transmissions instead of automatic ones? These days, it’s difficult to find stick shifts unless you ask for it specifically or look for older cars. Some of the most popular manual transmission vehicles are old, powerful Pontiac cars, or muscle cars as we call them. But if you’ve never learned how to drive a stick, buying one of these may be intimidating for you. Here are some tips to help you stay in control behind the wheel of Pontiac cars with a manual transmission.

• Put your foot on the brake to start the car. Next, put your left foot on the clutch, which is the pedal furthest to the left. With both pedals pressed down, shift into first gear with the gear shifter.
• When you are ready to start moving, release the parking brake and slowly take your foot off the regular brake pedal.
• Slowly apply pressure to the gas pedal with your right foot. As you do this, ease your left foot off the clutch. Try to sync it so you are adding as much pressure to the gas pedal as you are releasing from the clutch.
• To switch gears, press the clutch and move the gear shifter at the same time.
• Practice, practice, practice. The only way you’ll master the technique is to practice. Find an empty lot somewhere and follow these steps before hitting the road. Once you learn how to drive stick shift Pontiac cars, your car-buying horizons are limitless!

Saving Gas in Your VW Cars

vw carsGas prices have dropped considerably since last summer. As a result, many drivers have abandoned their fuel-efficient habits and started driving normally again. This tends to be wasteful. Here are some things you can do to get the most mileage from every gallon of fuel that you pump into your VW cars.

1. Use cruise control when you are driving on the highway. When you’re going a steady speed for a long distance, cruise control maximizes your mileage by keeping everything steady.
2. Turn off the engine. If you are sitting in a drive-thru or waiting for someone, letting your engine run for more than 30 seconds wastes fuel. Instead, turn it off when sitting still and you will save gas.
3. Learn to accelerate and stop smoothly. Quick starts and hard stops can kill your gas mileage. Learn to do both of these smoothly and you’ll notice a difference in your fuel efficiency.
4. Inflate your tires properly. Tires that do not have enough pressure create more friction and drag on your VW cars. Make sure they have the recommended PSI for maximum mileage and to get the most life out of the tires.

Use these four tips and you’ll see a positive impact on your gas mileage for your VW cars. You may even notice extra money in your pocket each month because you’re not spending so much on gas!

VW Cars Set to Take Number Two Spot in ’09

volkswagenIt may not be long before VW cars are the second most popular and recognized brand in the United States market. Many experts and analysts in the auto industry think it’s only a matter of time before Volkswagen takes GM’s spot the same way Toyota took GM’s top spot two years ago this month.

According to R.L. Polk Germany, a leading market research company, Volkswagen will suffer a 15 percent decline in production this year. While that sounds ominous, GM’s production is likely to suffer by twice that much, giving Volkswagen the opportunity to gain popularity and increase sales. “Volkswagen will therefore overtake GM and advance to become the new No.2 after Toyota,” said Polk in a press release earlier this week.

With the automaker in a position like this, now is the perfect time to invest in the VW cars at your local dealer. There are several models to choose from, including the Jetta, Passat, Routan, Tiguan, Eos, Beetle and several more. Whether you’re looking for a compact car, sedan or a stylish minivan for family trips and errands, Volkswagen has it all. Check out the various models today!

Tips for Safe Driving In Your Pontiac Cars

pontiac carsWe all want to be safer drivers. Being a safe driver is not only good for ourselves and our families, but safe drivers also have cheaper insurance premiums. Here are some ways to be a safer driver in your Pontiac cars.

• Always be careful around intersections. Just because you have the green light doesn’t mean you can go through it safely. Try to look both ways as you are approaching the intersection to see if other cars are coming.
• Be alert when driving near parked cars. Parked cars are a good hiding place for little kids. They can dart out at any second and you don’t have time to stop or swerve if you’re not alert.
• Stay out of blind spots. You may be in a driver’s blind spot for a couple seconds, but don’t linger there. Staying in a blind spot is just asking for trouble.
• Get plenty of rest. Sleep-deprived drivers are often as dangerous as inebriated drivers. Get plenty of rest when driving especially if you are planning a road trip.

These are just a few ways to increase your chances of being safe in your Pontiac cars. Of course, using some common sense will be very helpful, too!
