The South Korean auto maker has announced that car buyers who lose their jobs or that declare bankruptcy within one year of buying a Hyundai cars will be allowed to return the vehicle without penalty or without a negative impact on the buyer’s credit rating.

The program, known as the Hyundai Assurance program, will provide insurance for the buyer for the first year after the car is purchased. The program will pay the difference between the value of the vehicle and the buy-back price of the vehicle, up to a total of $7,500.
It remains to be seen how much the program will help struggling auto makers, but the company has high hopes. While some other localized dealers are offering similar programs, Hyundai currently is the only automaker offering this kind of a program at every one of its dealerships.
